pHi all,/ppMy friends and I saw the bird in the attached picture on Saturday at Bethpage State Park on Long Island, New York. It was eating a squirrel (or half of one). Just after we took the picture, he flew away carrying the squirrel in his talons. You can just see the squirrel in the bird's talons in the picture. He was quite big (big enough to fairly easily carry half a squirrel). You can't see it on the picture, but his legs were quite spread apart. Maybe 3 inches between them and then coated in white feathers, with yellow feet. I would guess in the picture he's around or abouts a foot tall, to give it scale, so maybe 18 inches down his back and his wingspan was a good couple of feet. Maybe more./ppimg alt="" border="" hspace="" width="800" height="600" align="" title="undefined" src="http://wildbirds.com/DesktopModules/ActiveForums/viewer.aspx?portalid=0amp;moduleid=568amp;attachid=336"nbsp;/ppnbsp;/ppAny ideas?nbsp;/p Click here to go to the original site
